Green Lungs for our cities
“Green Lungs for our cities – alternative and bottom-up monitoring platform for air quality, noise pollution and urban greenery for policy influencing at local level” is aimed at developing and piloting an alternative platform for monitoring and advocating policy-influencing on Cities Green Lungs – air quality, noise pollution, and urban greenery at local level. The EC funded 3 year project, which is piloted in the cities of Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan and Shkodër, is implemented by Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development, Milieukontakt Albania, and five local organisations.
The project focuses on developing and piloting an alternative platform for monitoring air-noise pollution and urban greenery (fully compliant to EU directives). Given the overall objective of strengthening local environmental Civil Society Organizations to impact environmental policies and performance at local level, the project also focuses on supporting CSOs in the process of producing qualitative monitoring data for improved advocacy and public awareness.
