National Activism Day: #NAD2022
The National Day of Activism (#NAD2022) was celebrated by all on the 21st and 22nd of October. Organizations, associations, groups and activists from all over Albania joined the event for the fifth year running.
A brief documentary film that was displayed during the celebration in Tirana, at the Cultural Center of the Orthodox Cathedral Complex, highlighted their commitments and actions over the years as an excellent model of citizenship.
Attendees listen to motivational experiences by both domestic and international activists, such as Portuguese doctor and humanitarian Gustavo Carona de Magalhes, teacher Florida Kumanaku, Italian cultural manager Paolo Petrocelli, and activist and journalist Geri Emiri. Many events were held throughout the country, culminating in the elementary school “Ferraj” in Tirana.
Improvements to the exterior environmental infrastructure, with a focus on the sports field and greenery, have been launched at the Dajti Administrative Unit School. Active citizens and various organizations engaged in the National Day of Activism, which was also intended to benefit students and the community in Ferraj. They received staff training, courses and educational programs for students, as well as educational tools, information wedges, sports equipment, school books and after-school books for children.
The National Day of Activism (#NAD2022) was realized in the framework of the project “Sparking Activism Initiatives Locally (SAIL II),” implemented by Co-PLAN, the Institute for Habitat Development, with the support of the Public Affairs Office at the US Embassy in Tirana as part of the “Civil Society Capacity Building” program.
