Local activism, the focus of NAD2021
For the fourth consecutive year, Co-PLAN, the Institute for Habitat Development with the support of the United States Embassy in Albania organizes on October 22, 2021, the National Day of Activism (NAD 2021).
Focused on activism at the local level, under the slogan “Act wherever you are, and how you can”, the fourth edition was celebrated by more than 50 organizations, youth groups and young activists everywhere in Albania. The Activism Fair, in Skanderbeg Square in Tirana and local activities held in over 25 municipalities of the country marked NAD 2021.
The activity in Tirana was attended by the Deputy Chief of Public Relations at the United States Embassy, Amanda Roberson, who welcomed the event and highlighting the importance of civic engagement, activism, and volunteerism.
NAD, already a tradition, is a day dedicated to people and initiatives who dare and get involved to improve things that concern society, but also a day to celebrate and encourage the activity of young activists.
This day is part of the US Embassy Civil Society Program, “Spark of Local Activism Initiatives,” implemented by Co-PLAN, which helps local activists and organizations work on issues such as women’s rights, youth engagement, environment, tourism, etc.
