ENV.Net Marks Water Day at the Lagoon

To mark the World Water Day, 22nd of March, the ENV.Net team in Albania organized a field trip with students and POLIS University professors in one of the largest wetland areas in the country, the Lagoon of Karavasta – a National Park.

The participating students were introduced with the history of the lagoon and it main characteristics, and how it was polluted by the agriculture developed nearby, or by the illegal fishing. A dense pine forest surrounds the coast parts of the lagoons, which is full of natural paths. Students were able to have a trip of about 2-3 km in one of the main natural paths of the area, where they were able to see and admire the natural habitat of the lagoon.

RDP Wraps Up its Activities

The Regional Development Programme in Northern Albania, an important reform initiative of 4 million euros funded by the Austrian and Swiss Governments, marked its successful completion today at a closing conference. The conference brought together government representatives, the Minister of State for Local Government, Mr. Bledi Çuçi, the Austrian and Swiss ambassadors, heads of Qarks, local government representatives and civil society organisations. It offered an exposé of the achievements and impact, challenges and recommendations the 4-year program implemented in the qarks of Shkodër and Lezhë.

The Publication on the “Regionalisation of Albania” is Out

“The Regionalisation of Albania – The Governance, Administrative and Territorial Reform that Albania needs on a Regional Level” was prepared by Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development, based on the analytical work conducted in years – at least since 2005. This proposal builds up considerably on the role of Co-PLAN in the frame of the “Regional Development Program in Northern Albania” project, financed by the Donor Agencies of Austria and Switzerland.

Urban Pockets in Tirana’s Neighbourhoods

Today yet another public space in the city was reinstated its deserved value and importance. The community from Municipal Unit no.5 in the city of Tirana, in cooperation with Co-PLAN, the Municipality of Tirana and POLIS University, have worked together for several months to transform the space they share in their residential area. They have greened the area, added functions to it as well as recreational space based on the needs and agreement of the residents. The result of this participatory planning is admirable.

Xhepa Urbanë në lagje të Tiranës

Sot një tjetër hapësirë publike në qytet rimori vlerat dhe rëndësinë e merituar. Komuniteti i një zone tek njësia bashkiake nr.5 së bashku me Co-PLAN, Bashkinë Tiranë dhe Universitetin POLIS, kanë punuar së bashku për disa muaj, për të shndërruar hapësirën mes pallateve të tyre. Ata e kanë gjelbëruar, sistemuar, kanë shtuar hapësirat rekreative, sipas vullnetit dhe dakordësisë së përbashkët të qytetarëve të zonës. Rezultati është i admirueshëm.

Manaxhimi i Integruar i Mbetjeve Urbane në Qytetin e Tiranës

Co-PLAN, Instituti për Zhvillimin e Habitatit në bashkëpunim me Bashkinë Tiranë dhe International Finance Corporation (IFC) organizuan sot Tryezën e Rrumbullakët “Manaxhimi i Integruar i Mbetjeve Urbane në Qytetin e Tiranës”. Kjo tryezë synoi prezantimin e studimit të fizibilitetit që është kryer për manaxhimin e integruar të mbetjeve në qytetin e Tiranës, dhe hapjen e një diskutimi me aktorët e interesit, organizatat e shoqërisë civile dhe bizneset për të diskutuar zgjidhjet më të përshtatshme për manaxhimin e integruar të mbetjeve urbane në qytetin e Tiranës.
