National Activism Day – #NAD 2023 celebrated as part of America Weeks 2023Celebrating Differences – Humanising Cities
National Activism Day – #NAD is a dedicated day to cherishing civic activism of all forms with a geography that spans across the country echoing the importance of civic activism and its instrumental role in building a healthy democracy.
For the past 5 years, over 160 local organisations, activists as well as well-established actors within the civil society scene have become part of #NAD through locally organised hands-on actions, participation to the civil society fairs held in central locations in Tirana, and tangible contributions to improving public service provision.
This year, #NAD will be celebrated as part of the America Week between October 9-16, 2023. In this spirit, as part of this year’s NAD, we shall honour and celebrate efforts of activists, organisations and supporters who have worked and contributed to improve human rights of people with disabilities in Albania.
We invite you to nominate those who have made significant contributions in the areas of access, equity and diversity (equal opportunity, civil rights, disability rights, etc.) through activism, advocacy, leadership or community service. Nominations can be for activists, formal and nonformal groups, organizations or supporters.
Award Recipients are people who have significant achievements in:
- Advancing or advocating for disability rights or justice.
- Empowering people with disabilities and special needs,
- Increasing the accessibility of programs and services to promote disability inclusion.
Recipients will receive their Award during the indoor ceremonial event ‘Celebrating Differences – humanising cities’ to be held on October 11, 2023 in Tirana. To nominate someone, please fill out the Award Nomination Form until September 15th, 2023 and submit the form to nominations@co-plan.org.
